100 acres of prime scrub is now ours. Thanks very much to
Mary
Cranston digitising these photos.
Here's the view front gate. The boundary of the property
is from the white post on the left to just the other
side of the hill on the right. The back fence is at the
bottom of the hill. The line of trees which can be
seen snaking back towards the hill is the creek.
From the Front Gate
In front of the creek is a flat piece of land overflowing
with spear grass, the odd car track and of course power
lines (which are just inside the fence). To the right
of this picture is the Rocky to Emu Park road. We are
about 15 minutes out of Rocky.
The Front Paddock
Just inside the gate is a small pond which has fish in it.
At least that is what we were told by the two young guys we found dipping
their lines into "our" pond.
The fish pond
Between the creek and the hill there is a flat piece
of land which is the current favourite house site.
The current plan, forgetting any practical considerations,
is to nestle the house up as close as possible in the
V formed by the hill and the creek.
The House Site
The hill, well it must be pretty close to achieving
that title, appears to be partially cleared and it
looks like someone was going to build something on top.
The view from the top is quite nice but the noise from
the road doesn't really appeal.
Up the Hill
The one feature of the block which sold us on it was the
creek. It looks permanent, is drinkable and has a couple
of really nice swimming holes.
Even the non-native fauna thinks so. Look real close.
The horse is in the middle of the picture in the creek.
No we don't know who he belongs to.

Trees and water
Up near the hill the creek turns and runs parallel to the road.
It is at this stage where it gets really nice. The following
photo is taken from the corner looking up the creek.
Up the creek
Though you can't see it well on the last photo the creek
really spreads out into a good swimming hole. It is surrounded
by paperbark trees, is quite wide and is at least 5 to 6 foot
deep in places.
