The VC's award for quality teaching is awarded each year to someone who is judged to be CQU's best teacher of that year. Obviously this is a very subjective judgement, based primarily on material written by the recipient.

The photos here were taken by Mary Cranston with a digital camera. Thank you Mary. Mary is a wonderful person who makes the world a better place.

The photos are included here primarily for my family in New Zealand.

The teaching award is given in conjunction with similar awards for research and general staff. All three are awarded at a graduation ceremony at which the recipients of the awards lead the academic procession (JPEG image, 26364 bytes).

In the background you can see the photographers getting ready to cash in on the captive market.

At the appropriate time in (what seems to be very lengthy) graduation ceremony the recipients of the three awards line up and listen (JPEG image, 52656 bytes) to a Pro-Vice Chancellor read out a commendation explaining why the recipient is worthy of such a great award.

After that piece of fiction the recipient proceeds across the stage to the Vice-Chancellor who presents the certificate and statue (JPEG image, 46685 bytes). The money has previously been transferred into the appropriate accounts.

Finally, after the requisite photo the recipient makes a getway (JPEG image, 34161 bytes) and returns to a life of anonymity.
